Madam, - Peter Molloy (July 3rd) takes comfort from the fact that RTÉ's most expensive staff take the summer off. By doing this, he suggests, they are probably giving the licence payer a built-in discount of 25 per cent on the wages bill. I would further hope that with the top presenters getting paid rates rising to nearly a million euro a year from public funds, we might in future hear less criticism from them of the TDs who also take the summer off, but are paid at a mere fraction of the broadcasters' rate. - Yours, etc,
HUGO BRADY BROWN, Stratford on Slaney, Co Wicklow.
Madam, - It is only right that Pat Kenny should earn twice what his nearest rival earns since he both asks and answers the questions. - Yours, etc,
JOHN O'BRIEN, Pinewood Park, Dublin 14.
