Madam, - In his letter (January 29th) Brian Riddick describes the recent Supreme Court clarification on residency rights as "another shameful day".
Personally I am at pains to see what is "shameful" in the mere realigning of Irish immigration policy with that of the wider Europe Union.
Over the last 30 years Ireland has acceded to common agriculture and fisheries policies and more recently a common currency. Common fiscal and perhaps defence policies are also possible among the member states.
