Madam, - I refer to Ursula Courtney's letter of November 10th headlined "Ryanair's wheelchair charges". An accurate headline would have read: "Aer Rianta and BAA's wheelchair charges."
Ryanair has never charged anyone for the use of a wheelchair. In fact Ryanair provides full assistance to wheelchair passengers free of charge, and at a cost to the company.
Ryanair flies to 86 airports across 16 European countries, and at 80 of these airports, wheelchair service is provided entirely free of charge. The six airports that don't provide free wheelchair service are the Aer Rianta and BAA monopoly airports, including Dublin and Gatwick.
Ryanair believes that these airports should be providing free wheelchair services for passengers making their way through these airports, just like the other 80 airports Ryanair flies to. - Yours, etc.,
PAUL FITZSIMMONS,
Head of Communications,
Ryanair,
Dublin Airport.
