Sir, - The IRFU's decision not to renew Warren Gatland's contract suggests that there's more truth to the classic Irishman jokes than we'd ever have thought.
As Irishmen ourselves, we are astonished at this breathtaking act of arrogance, parochialism and sheer stupidity. It's worthy of a Flann O'Brien novel, such is its bizarre and unfathomable illogicality.
As so often in the past, the IRFU have acted with cowardice, short-sightedness and a shameful lack of grace. In short, we are disgusted.
