Madam, - Recently I have been unable to buy grapes with seeds in them. All the supermarkets and street traders are selling seedless grapes only, with only one exception that I know - a street trader in Newbridge who sells red grapes from South Africa.
Most Irish people have a problem with seeded grapes; they will not swallow the seeds as Continentals do.
I suspect that these seedless grapes are genetically modified. They do not seem as sweet as seeded grapes. I am not aware of any regulation which requires traders to indicate the genetic status of their products.
I would like to know your readers' opinion. I personally will not purchase seedless grapes. - Yours, etc.,
