Madam,– Could I add to Barbara Lucey’s wonderful letter, (October 11th)? Abolish the quangos; but keep allocating funds who are doing such good work for the community. Trade union chief executives should take a cut in their salaries, thus reducing the subvention paid by their hard-pressed members. Doctors, especially consultants, should take a voluntary cut as well. Then and only then will the ordinary people take the pain which is currently unequally distributed. – Yours, etc,
