Madam, - I am not easily affected by the reports on the Mahon Tribunal. This probably means I have become inured to the pleadings of some of our prominent citizens. But your report of July 20th on the magnificent efforts of Mr Ray Burke's barrister to persuade the chairman to pay costs of €10 million to Mr Ray Burke brought tears to my eyes.
At no stage was this lawyer concerned that, if the chairman refused his request, he and his colleagues might not be paid. No, his concern was that Mr Burke, if pursued for this money, would be financially a broken man, obliged to live on his two pensions, one as a TD and the other as a Minister. - Yours, etc.,
TOM GERAGHTY, Cappaghmore, Dublin 22.
