Sir, - In the issue of March 25th, there is a fine colour picture of a Palestinian youth using what the caption writer claims is a sling to target his enemy. Again, in the issue of March 26th, a picture shows another Palestinian said to be firing a slingshot at Israeli police.
Please do note that the device used in each instance is not a sling, nor even remotely similar to one. The pictures clearly show that a catapult is in use - in my opinion, it is not possible to aim a sling in the manner shown. It is well to think of the meaning of the word "sling".
In the interest of the language and people's understanding of it, please advise your caption writer. Maybe buy him/her a catapult to fire pellets of paper? - Yours, etc.,
