Madam, - I've just been reading the obituary of the Australian politician Sir Joh Bjelke-Petersen. (Irish Times, May 14th). In it, references are made to "his syntactically fractured speech"; his "malapropisms" and his "solipsisms" (sic). Solipsisms? Perhaps your obituarist was referring to Bjelke-Petersen's solecisms.
