A chara, – As has been well documented there are thousands of people struggling to pay their mortgages.
Many of these people are on tracker mortgages and have a reticence regarding trading down because the tracker mortgage will be lost. But, if the banks allowed tracker mortgages to be transferred in cases of trade downs the bank would surely have a better chance of getting their money?
Similarly, if the Government waved stamp duty for those trading down it would greatly help people to adjust to new fiscal realities, service their debts and live within their means. – Yours, etc,
