Madam, - Four mobile phones rang out loud and clear during Long Day's Journey Into Night at the Gaiety Theatre last Wednesday evening. What an insult to this wonderful cast and in particular to the two visiting actors. Where else in the world would James Cromwell be subjected to this?
To add insult to injury, the Gaiety management still refuses to do anything about patrons bringing drinks into the auditorium and rattling the ice around in their glasses. I realise drink sales are a necessary source of income, but please keep the drinking in the bars: that's what they are for. The auditorium is for something else. - Yours, etc,
URSULA HOUGH-GORMLEY, Rathmines, Dublin.6.
