Sir, - As a former TD for Dublin South I can only describe the provision in the draft development plan for the re-zoning of a further 1,200 acres for housing as catastrophic. All the Dublin councils have been merrily re-zoning land over the years without any thought for a proper infrastructure of services, particularly public transport. Surely it must be selfevident that the occupants of anadditional 10,000 houses will exacerbate the already appalling traffic situation.I would ask people in South Dublin to make their views known to their councillors, for unless our elected representatives vote down this crazy plan we can expect further chaos on the roads. Dublin is far too big already. Now is the time to shout STOP.Incidentially, I would like to pay a special tribute to one independent councillor, Mary Muldoon, who has been a tireless campaigner against rezoning over many years. You can be certain of her opposition to this rezoning. - Yours, etc.,Roger Garland,Butterfield Drive,Dublin 14.
