Sir, - On a recent visit to the West we spent a short time in the village of Knock. The speed of some of the cars racing through the main street, many of them driven by young women, was simply appalling and this in spite of the fact that many elderly and disabled old people were trying to cross this narrow "main road". With such a large population of these elderly and infirm people in this small area I feel that accidents are just waiting to happen. Elsewhere in the West, despite several roadside notices warning that "Speed Kills", the message was just being ignored. - Yours, etc.,
(Dr) Patrick Linden,
Whitehead, Co Antrim.
