Madam, - It's a pity really that Mr Éamon Ó Cuív has to take such a battering from those opposed to his changing the name of Dingle to whatever it is now. Had he but driven through the county of Clare beforehand he would have seen just how easily Clare County Council managed its changes of address. It just replaced the old road signs, giving new denominations to certain towns and villages without anyone getting into a lather.
On a recent trip to the county some designations seemed oddly familiar: "Lehinch", "Corrofin" - but I'm not too sure about "Ballyvaghan". It's all very puzzling. - Yours, etc,
ARTHUR DUNNE, Seafield Close, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
