Madam, – With all the talk of an imminent election, I think that it’s time for our political parties to stand up and clearly state their commitment to change.
Anyone with an ounce of insight into our system knows that it has been at least partly responsible for our present woes, with too many overpaid TDs chasing local issues at the expense of coherent national decision-making. So I’m calling on TDs or candidates from all our parties to state their position on the size of the Dáil and the size of TDs’ salaries and expenses.
Extra points will be given to anyone who takes a principled stand, “breaks ranks” with their party and states that they’re willing to take a pay-cut regardless of what is actually implemented. Any takers? – Yours, etc,
