Madam, - In his European Diary of January 8th, Jamie Smyth laments the fact that "an eagle-eyed security guard" confiscated a jar of home-made tomato, onion and coriander chutney, exceeding 100ml, as a perceived threat to air security.
While I accept that these things are a matter of individual taste, I know that my late father, the world's greatest green tomato chutney maker in his day, would have advocated extraordinary rendition for anyone adding coriander to the mix.
Perhaps the security guard had an aquiline nose as well as eye.
