Sir, - More and more, once abandoned stained glass windows - are finding new homes. Included among these are the splendid Evie Hone window now in the office of An Taoiseach the Harry Clarke windows from the former Rathfarnham Jesuit Retreat House, now in the restored, fire damaged Tullamore Catholic Church; a series of Evie Hone windows from Tullabey, now in a new oratory in Manresa, Dollymount, and a salvaged window in the newly built Palliative Care Unit, The Hospice, Harold's Cross, Dublin.
To these should be added the eight or so windows of the 1920s and 1930s by Harry Clarke Stained Glass Studios for the Sacred Heart Convent, Lower Leeson Street and now adapted, restored and installed in St Felim's Catholic Cathedral, Cavan Town. Other features of this great classical building are the windows by the Earley Brothers and Stations of the Cross by George Collie RHA.
A visit to Cavan town should also take in the beautiful Church of Ireland Cathedral of Kilmore, with its Catherine O'Brien windows, and Bedell's tomb, just two miles outside it. - Yours, etc.,
Raglan Lane,
Dublin 4.
