Sir, – I enjoyed John G O’Dwyer’s Irishman’s Diary (May 21st) as I enjoy all his writing in your paper, but may I remind him that a hurling match is started by a “throw-in” rather than a “puck-off”. Perhaps he confused it with a “bully-off” as he referred to the game of cricket in that same diary.
Either way, as fellow Tipperary men, we should not mind what it is called as long as we are in contention in September. – Yours, etc,
