Madam, - I couldn't agree more with the sentiments about "Stroke" Fahy and Galway County Council expressed by Morgan Matthews (October 13th).
Despite all the expense, rhetoric and on-going spin, especially since the establishment of the various tribunals, it is patently clear that our parliamentary democracy is still driven, polluted and riddled by vested interests that continue to control and undermine public representation at both local and national level.
Either we nip this in the bud now, once and for all, or we continue down the all too apparent slippery road into total social anarchy. The question is: who is committed to this challenge? Perhaps the President should intervene at this stage! - Yours, etc,
PETER GAUGHAN, Monkstown, Co Dublin.
