Madam, - Congratulations on the supplement on the 1916 Rising. Fintan O'Toole's essay was excellent and thoughful.
It is true that there is a mystery about who wrote the Proclamation. It was, however, signed at the Irish Farm and Produce Company, Jennie Wyse Power's shop and restaurant at 21 Henry Street, which was a meeting place for those planning the Rising.
Jennie Wyse Power was President and Chairman of Cumann na mBan. Her daughter Nancy, who was also extremely active in Cumann na mBan, submitted a fasinating account to the Military History Bureau. The building, which was also the family home, was completely destroyed during the Rising. - Yours, etc,
