JASON FITZHARRIS,
Madam, - I am utterly appalled by Trevor Sargent's public approval of an attempted act of sabotage on a US Navy C-40 transport aircraft at Shannon. If al-Qaeda carried out this act would Mr Sargent still support it?
Does the Green Party support and endorse the comments of Mr Sargent? Attempting to sabotage a foreign military aircraft could be perceived as an act of terrorism or even an act of aggression. Considering the pacifist anti-war sentimentalities of the Green Party, support of such activities is hypocritical to say the least.
Anti-war protesters are simple naive people easily influenced by comments like this, more like children than adults. Mr Sargent's comments could convince more of these gullible anti-war loonies to conduct more acts of sabotage. But what if one of these idiots screws up and accidentally blows up the aircraft instead?
Do you know what happens to an airport packed of aircraft, laden with fuel and only a few feet from each other when one of them blows up? What would Mr Sargent say then? How about "Oops"!
Think Mr Sargent, think! Try and make more use that little mass of cells between your ears. As an elected representative of the people and a leader of political party the people of Ireland expect better conduct and behaviour. I now call on the Green Party to immediately punish, without delay, Mr Sargent.
There are enough terrorist appeasers in the Dail as it is without the Green Party adding to them. - Yours, etc.
