Madam, - We can now see what is wrong in Irish business life, especially in financial circles. The Supreme Court unanimously held against DCC and Mr Flavin. As Mr Justice Fennelly said, it was a "fraud on the market". In most advanced Western democracies, this would be a resigning matter. Mr Flavin, we believe, would help to redeem his reputation by such a course of action.
What is more worrying is the news that the Board of DCC, which includes some of the most senior figures in Irish financial and business life, is now "campaigning for support from the investment community" ( The Irish Times, July 31st). What audacity! Maybe people who think that way are the ones who should resign. - Yours, etc,
J. FLOOD, Mount Merrion, Co Dublin.
