A chara, - I am deeply troubled by the negative publicity being showered on Goal just now. I feel that the strength of an association of this nature is its ability to respond with speed and efficiency to the pressing needs of Third World countries. In this kind of work it is very easy to find oneself vulnerable to the "small print" requirements of governments.
As a missionary involved in education and community development in Kihwezi (a semi-desert area in Kenya) I can say that Goal was the only Irish aid organisation which answered my appeal for funds. It did this promptly and generously. I would be very sad if the support of the Irish people for this excellent organisation was in any way diminished. - Yours, etc.,
