Madam, – Frank McNally’s Irishman’s Diary (November 4th), in which he described our autumn trees, was a joy to read.
To take notice of our wonderful Irish trees bathed in autumnal colour is a pleasure that should be enjoyed by all, even if the colour is not as striking as that of the famous maples of New England. In Vermont, the fall brings out thousands of “leaf peepers”. Perhaps we in Ireland will become imbued with the same enthusiasm about our own very special autumn trees. – Yours, etc,
