Madam, - Is it possible that the media and the Celtic Tiger knockers will eventually give the Taoiseach a chance to continue running the country?

The coverage of his tribunal appearances is verging on the obsessive. Credit for the work he has done to bring the country unprecedented prosperity seems to be wanting; also long forgotten is that he has delivered peace between the 26 counties and the six countries and ensured a better working relationship with Great Britain.

All this abuse because he accepted £50,000 from friends. I think it was Oscar Wilde who said every saint has a past and every sinner a future. So far the tribunals have cost us taxpayers over €300 million - not a great return on investment.

Let us accept that we can't change the past and let the Government, led by the Taoiseach, tackle the real problems which we can all help to solve to ensure a better future - drugs, the health service, crime, homelessness and other life-threatening issues. - Yours, etc,
