Sir, - In the course of the Dail debate on the Haughey tax appeal, Mr Ruairi Quinn is reported as referring to the public concept that "there is one law for the rich and one for everybody else".
May I remind him that the Labour Party was responsible for such a law as part of the Government when the 1993 tax amnesty was introduced. Would Mr Quinn be satisfied if Mr Haughey had paid 15 per cent of his alleged liability under the amnesty? - Yours, etc., Tom Byrne,
Lawrence Grove, Clontarf, Dublin 3.
