Madam, – I presume that all (well, most) of those recently listed by the Revenue Commissioners as tax defaulters will pay their settlements out of their own pockets. Out of whose pocket will Donegal County Council pay the penalties and interest of €252,000 imposed on them by the Revenue?
I can understand that they should pay the €548,000 they owe for non-payment of PAYE and PRSI out of their revenues, but why should they dip into the taxpayers’ pocket to pay the other quarter million? Who does the buck stop with? The silly old taxpayer again? – Yours, etc,
