Teachers and benchmarking

Madam, - Derek Dunne, president of the Teachers' Union of Ireland, recently told his members:

"Some public sector unions whose members gained little from benchmarking wish to reject the deal. Why should we support these groups when teachers and lectures are gaining significant increases from the process?"

Is it surprising that teachers are experiencing growing odium from the public? - Yours, etc.,
