Sir, - I have just returned from a school meeting in a secondary school in Drumcondra. The teachers' strike was aired, and I can honestly say I haven't heard such fury in a long while. There is utter frustration that this strike is being dragged out needlessly with the worst effects on the pupils.
There seems to be no realisation that there are a lot of votes at stake here - the teachers, the parents, and many of the Leaving Cert pupils are on the register. The lack of initiative in settling the dispute beggars belief. Has this Government lost touch altogether? Maybe its time to wish them goodbye. - Yours, etc.,
Kathryn Mulready, Calderwood Road, Drumcondra, Dublin 9.
