Sir, - Details of the teachers' second-tier summer earner are now (interestingly) unfolding. But riddle me this. If members of the profession are so stressed throughout the academic year, why on earth don't they avail properly of the restorative months so humanely provided and paid for by the educational system, instead of loading themselves with more responsibility? In return for a generous pay increase, would they agree to keep sacrosanct the purpose of their long holidays? - Yours, etc.,
