Madam, - The report on teenage fertility by the Crisis Pregnancy Agency (The Irish Times, April 18th) is seriously flawed as it is not comparing like with like. It is well known in the Central Statistics Office that, unlike Dublin, Cork, Galway and other cities, Limerick has not been granted a boundary extension for over 55 years. The real extent and population of the city is about double that used in reporting statistics. Almost all the more prosperous suburbs are left out, giving a completely distorted picture.
Where was Dublin's city boundary 55 years ago? Where were Cork's and Galway's? What would the statistics reveal if they covered these cities as they were then?
It is high time that Minister for the Environment Dick Roche ended this confusion. - Yours, etc.,
