Madam, - I was amazed to read in Friday's edition that the debate continues about the management of a new terminal at Dublin Airport.
Anyone who was in Dublin Airport at midday last Sunday would not contemplate allowing the present management to run the new terminal. We were faced with long queues and no organisation. It was next to impossible to find the start of the queue - and having queued for over an hour and seen people jump the queue my complaints were greeted by, "Ah, that is happening everywhere"!
It is many years since I have seen such chaos and incompetence - and to think this was five days after the problems first arose. No normal business would be allowed to get away with treating its customers with such disdain.
What made it utterly unforgivable was the damage it may have caused the tourist industry. Visitors were given a terrible impression and experience and many may have left promising never to return. No explanations were offered at the airport and it fell to those of us who had followed the affair in the media to explain as best we could. - Yours, etc.,
