Madam, - We have seen much in the media recently about the need for an additional terminal and runways at Dublin airport.
What is required is an additional airport on the south side of the city.
Baldonnel is the obvious location as our Ministers are already aware - most of them use it. Apart from reducing the traffic at Dublin airport, a new airport on the southside would reduce traffic on the M50 as many of the vehicles on the motorway are travelling to and from the airport.
This reduction, together with the scrapping of the one big bottleneck on the M50 - the West Link Toll Bridge - would mean that the motorway would be adequate for the foreseeable future. - Yours, etc,
