Sir, - Kevin Myers (An Irishman's Diary, September 21st) uses the heroism of New York firefighters and the passengers on flight 93 to hail the virtue of "manliness".
Male values, he claims, made societies and keeps societies together. What women, he asks, would have done what those men did?
Might I humbly point out that those who hijacked the planes were also men, and they came from societies where the female voice is repressed?
What society needs is a balance of male and female values. - Yours, etc.,
