Sir, - Margaret Curran (October 4th), takes a very idealistic stance in stating, "war is never justified". I can't imagine what our world would look like if tyranny had not been militarily defeated over the years. Are we to believe that Ms Curran in her quest to avoid war would be content to live under the resultant totalitarian regimes? The millions that have died in wars to protect the freedoms we now take for granted died in vain? I think not. - Yours, etc.,
