Madam, - Driving back to Dublin on Monday evening I could not help but see the two-storey-high picture of Bertie Ahern on the side of a certain pub in Drumcondra, accompanied by a caption thanking "us" for "our" support.
This sort of self-aggrandisement is reminiscent of Saddam Hussein or Stalin in their "glory" days and is a shameful waste of money. But then, when you have a coterie of wealthy friends to give you a dig-out when needed, why worry about the cost of anything? - Yours, etc,
