Sir, - Not having had the pleasure or good fortune to have been taught by the Dominicans, I am glad to see that, even though they are withdrawing from the administration of secondary schools, they are not withdrawing from education.
The Dominicans of the Priory Institute, Tallaght have just launched an important new educational initiative. They have recently set up a distance learning programme in theology, to begin in January, with tutorial centres dotted around the country. Before this, the study of theology was contained mainly within the Pale and outside my reach, anchored as I am in the Irish midlands.
Now, thanks to the Dominicans and their vision I, and hundreds like me have the opportunity to benefit from their exceptional educational legacy. - Yours etc.,
