Sir, - Mr Caoimhghin O Caolain makes his case for a Novote on the Amsterdam Treaty (The Irish Times, May 14th).
He argues that somewhere, somehow, the EU bureaucrats are plotting to turn our peaceful, gentle Republic into a warrior State. Having listened to both sides of the subject I can only conclude Mr O Caolain and his ilk are suffering from delusions of paranoia. Does he really believe that our acceptance of this Treaty will lead to columns of Irish storm troopers goose-stepping down O'Connell Street?
It's time to face reality. We took the EU's shilling and now it's time to do the EU's bidding. - Yours, etc., Edward D. Rafferty,
Grogans Road, Wexford Town.
