Sir, - Three hearty cheers for the Bank of Ireland for brightening the lives of their shareholders by announcing record six-monthly profits of £507 million.
The same bank closed down its Ballymun branch some years ago citing "commercial reasons". I suppose that there's no chance that it might now re-open in Ballymun? How could it possibly justify such a step to its shareholders? How about "commercial reasons? - Yours, etc., Tony Taaffe,
Member Special Committee on Ballymun, City Hall, Dublin 1.
