Sir, - Speaking at the recent Provisional Sinn Fein Ard Fheis, Martin McGuinness stated: "The union has undoubtedly been weakened as a result of the inclusion of a clause limiting the life of the union to the will of a majority in the Northern state".
This "prize" was conceeded before:
In a commitment contained in the "Ireland Act" of 1949;
In the "Northern Ireland Act" of 1973;
In section five of the Sunningdale Agreement;
In the opening section of the Hillsborough agreement of 1985.
I presume Mr McGuinness will be made aware of his mistake on May 10th, at the reconvened Ard Fheis. Or would that be seen as a "challenge to the leadership"? - Is mise, etc.,
