Sir, - A recent Department of Health report identified the need for £65 million to meet the outstanding requirements of people with mental handicap. The Government has allocated £7 million.
Meanwhile, there has been a considerable investment recently in upgrading the Dail bar and a further £25 million is to be spent refurbishing the Dail.
When such allocations are considered in a context of the Budget - and particularly the £20 million for Croke Park - the Government has demonstrated little consideration, during a economic boom, for one of the most marginalised groups in our society. - Yours, etc.,
