Sir, - I refer to Yvonne Healy's article (Education & Living, May 12th) on a proposed central applications system for candidates for the H. Dip. in Education. I must point out that at no stage in the development or running of the CAO system have the universities devolved their selection procedures to the Central Applications Office.
It is vital that students, parents, guidance counsellors and others clearly understand that the universities are solely responsible for the assessment and selection of their students. - Yours etc.,
