Madam, - In response to Noreen Lynch's letter of February 27th, may I make a suggestion? For people unable to read the full paper on a given day there should be a version that just contains the main paper; perhaps it could be called The Irish Times Lite. This would let those who have time to read the supplements do so, while those who do not would not feel guilty. Maybe this would also go some way towards drastically reducing the amount of unread paper published every day. - Yours, etc,

Madam, - Congratulations. Easier on the eye. - Yours, etc,

Madam , - Well done to all concerned on the new-look Irish Times. Unlike some others, I am not going to complain about the price increase, preferring to look at the positives.

The new Wednesday sports supplement is welcome, with the crossword especially appreciated. However, this reader would like to see a small weekly prize offered as an extra incentive to solvers.

In the past the Chequered Flag crossword provided many Irish Times sports enthusiasts with a lot of amusement and I hope On The Grid will do likewise. Let the compiler make it as tricky as possible and let's have a prize. - Yours, etc,

ERIC RICE, Navan, Co Meath.

Madam,- Your redesign is generally to be applauded but has missed one major point. The television listings and the Sudoku puzzle are still on the two sides of the same sheet of newsprint. When I slump before the TV set in the evening I cannot check what's on without an argument, because my wife is exercising her brain.

Please move the Sudoku to the Crosswords page and restore peace to our evenings. - -Yours, etc,

PETER EVANS, Percy Place, Dublin 4.

Madam, - I agree with Noreen Lynch about the number of extras included in The Irish Timeseach day and deplore the increase in price which they involve. When I buy a new car, I can pay for the basic model or buy extras at an additional cost. Perhaps the same procedure could be applied to this otherwise excellent newspaper. - Yours, etc,
