Sir, - As if the plot wasn't thick enough already, the leader of the Government continues to throw national money at any obstacle that gets in the way of his highly questionable personal dream.
Considering what has emerged regarding the abuse of power in Irish politics, has he not yet grasped the difference between being a powerful politician and a true statesman? Does he know there is a difference? Does he care?
Could someone please call him off and get him to do something really useful for his and our country that we will be glad to remember him for? Or do we have to sit through this and learn about all the gory details, again at public expense, in about 10 years' time? - Yours, etc.,
Derek Carroll, Grove Paddock, Blackrock, Co Dublin.
