Sir, - I was pleased to read your critic's views on the recent performance of Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius by Our Lady's Choral Society. I remember, as a young girl, being allowed out with a group from Loreto Abbey, Dalkey to hear a wonderful performance by the same choir, together with the Halle Orchestra under Sir John Barbirolli and the great contralto Kathleen Ferrier. I felt so sad that our wonderful music teacher, Mother Stella O'Hagan, was unable to be with us on that occasion.
I wonder how many of your readers had the privilege to hear this great performance? - Yours, etc.,
Eimear Logan Dawson, St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex, England.
