Sir, - When Mrs O'Rourke sits down to brief her consultants on the LUAS project, she might ask them to consider how many additional light rail lines would be built with the estimated £300 million it will take to go underground.
Providing lines through Ballymun, Blanchardstown and Harold's Cross would do far more to solve our traffic problems than burying the light rail system to keep road space for private cars.
If the Dublin Transport Initiative starts to unravel, it will be remembered that our politicians lacked the vision to invest properly in public transport - leaving us with more roads, exhaust fumes, constant noise and gridlock. - Yours, etc.,
