The final whistle?

Sir, – On the subject of whistling, I am reminded of the story of the great orchestral conductor, Sir Thomas Beecham, who on one occasion got into a London taxi and to the annoyance of the driver produced a piece of music and began to whistle. When the driver objected, Sir Thomas replied “My dear fellow, you only hear the whistling but I hear the whole orchestra”! – Yours, etc,
