Madam, - I refer to the article headed "Stumbling from one crisis to the next" (The Irish Times,December 28th). The caption, "Alone in Europe, France has zero economic growth", is both incorrect and misleading. Lara Marlowe correctly wrote that "France had zero economic growth in the third quarter". Your caption thus distorts both Ms Marlowe's comment and the reality, which is that France's economic growth for 2006 should stand between 2.5 and 2.7 per cent, within the average estimates for the eurozone. - Yours, etc,
LOUIS DE CORAIL, Conseiller/DHM, Ambassade de France en Irlande, Ailesbury Road, Dublin 4.
