Sir, – Letters in The Irish Times from Graeme Guthrie in Westport and Ian Hassell in Tralee (December 31st) on the pleasures of mowing the lawn remind me of a friend's definition of "The Perfect Day."
It was the perfect day. I was out in the garden. The sun was shining. The birds were singing. And the lawnmower was broken! – Yours, etc,
BRENDAN CASSERLY,
Bishopstown, Cork.
