Madam, - After more than three weeks of monsoon-like weather we are hearing of an obstacle to development in the town of Kenmare - an inadequate water supply.

It is surprising that we hear nothing from the Government about plans to conserve water for times of prolonged drought, when the same commodity is very likely to be in short supply because of climate change. Is there any discussion taking place on the creation of further capacity by constructing new reservoirs? Millions of litres of water race down the streams from mountain regions to join the brimming rivers. How about some kind of think tank to let us know administrative thinking on this topic? And where can one buy a water butt or even an old-fashioned wooden barrel, complete with spout and tap? - Yours, etc,
